Summary This position is part of Colgates Global Design and Packaging Department, responsible for the HC/PCP Category. Latam represents 23% of company sales. This position supports the primary company strategies of Driving Growth, by developing and implementing innovative consumer preferred packaging, sustainable packaging and Funding Growth, by driving savings and standardization efforts globally. The role is cross-functional in nature, working closely with Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, and the Supply Chain. Partnerships with outside packaging vendors are a critical element of job responsibilities. Responsabilities Participate in the conceptualization, initiation, development and implementation of new and improved packages and processes including: design generation, prototype development, engineering specifications, mold and machinery qualification, functionality and quality testing, and technology transfer. Will participate, and sometimes lead, multi-functional teams on these projects Participate in the design of packaging systems and packaging components, ensuring defined needs for ergonomics, equity aesthetics, consumer acceptance, manufacturing capability and quality are met from the program brief through design, engineering and Commercialization Implement standardization and simplification programs, and margin improvement projects Interface with Marketing, Product Development, and Supply Chain functions to ensure project meets agreed upon goals. Continuously assess and communicate project results vs. goals and take corrective action when required Collaborate with Procurement to develop and help contracts with suppliers. Evaluate and coordinate suppliers activity related to ongoing projects Provide the needed information to Procurement for them to generate and present valid Total Delivered Cost information on package/process and other pertinent financial information Generate the information needed for the Packaging Laboratory to execute lab evaluations for the packaging materials, following the Global testing plans. Support the plant needs in identifying quality defects and driving resolution Identify and provide rationale for funds needed to successfully deliver project goals Understand and interpret package testing procedures and standards to support the effective design, validation, and implementation of new packages and packaging technology. Write and present technical and business summaries for both technical and non-technical personnel Build competitive advantage by identifying, evaluating, and championing technical advancements, design trends and innovations in packaging. Stay aware of supplier and competitor new developments, and highlight to appropriate management as needed Develop, justify and execute capital projects related to packaging (i.e. molds/machinery) Basic Qualifications (Required education, experience, skills etc to qualify candidate): BS or MS in Packaging, Engineering or Material Science Solid experience in consumer products, packaged goods or pharmaceutical industry Experience in Packaging Advanced English Ability to travel 5-20% (domestic and Global) based on project needs Ability to work in cross-functional teams and in cross category projects Ability to work and support projects of CP Anchieta plant Preferred Qualifications: Solid experience in Packaging Previous experience in a multi-national company Experience coordinating packaging development projects with Product Development, Marketing and the Supply Chain.
