About the Job
Turno is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and support a squad of
engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery of projects, effective team
communication, prompt resolution of issues, and continuous development of
individual contributors.
This position is remote and we are accepting candidates from Latin America.
Responsibilities
Ensure High-Quality Delivery:
Implement code review standards and ensure adherence to best practices.
Monitor team velocity, track trends in bugs, and implement corrective actions to
continually improve delivery speed and quality.
Foster Effective Team Communication:
Schedule and facilitate regular team meetings, including stand-ups and post-sprint
retrospectives.
Utilize collaborative tools (e.g., Slack, Jira) to maintain clear and transparent
communication channels.
Proactively Manage Issue Escalation:
Establish a clear escalation process and ensure team members are aware of it.
Monitor and track issues to ensure timely resolution and provide regular updates
to stakeholders.
Support the Development of Individual Contributors (ICs):
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss progress,
challenges, and career goals.
Create personalized development plans and provide opportunities for skill
enhancement through training and mentorship programs.
Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements regularly.
Promote Continuous Improvement:
Encourage team members to participate in retrospectives and contribute to
identifying process improvements.
Implement changes based on feedback and measure their impact on team performance
and satisfaction.
Align Team Goals with Company Objectives:
Ensure team goals are aligned with broader company objectives and priorities.
Provide regular updates to the team on company direction and how their work
contributes to overall success.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a software engineer or similar position, with proven
experience delivering high quality software products.
3+ years managing a team of engineers in an agile environment. Strong leadership
and people management skills to guide and support the engineering team. Ability to
inspire, motivate, and foster a collaborative team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead meetings and
ensure clear, transparent communication. Fluent in English.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical and managerial
challenges. Ability to make data-driven decisions and prioritize effectively.
