The Nature Conservancy (TNC) seeks a visionary leader to fill the critical role of
Brazil Country Program Director. This individual will be an entrepreneurial and
results-oriented strategic thinker, adept at mobilizing diverse stakeholders and
leading high-performing cross-functional teams.
This requires a deep understanding of the Brazilian socio-ecological landscape and
the ability to translate that knowledge into actionable plans that achieve
measurable progress across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The
ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, fostering a
collaborative and inclusive work environment where team members feel empowered to
contribute their unique talents and expertise.
This role demands a strategic and entrepreneurial mind that can set the long-term
direction for TNC's conservation efforts in Brazil, aligning them with the
organization's global goals while remaining responsive to the evolving needs of
the country.
Building strong relationships and collaborating effectively with a wide range of
stakeholders is crucial for success. This includes government agencies, NGOs,
indigenous communities, private sector entities, and local communities.
TNC seeks a passionate and strategic leader who will play a pivotal role in
shaping the future of conservation in Brazil and who will be responsible the
Brazils program success. The ideal profile is an individual with high ethical
standards, high emotional intelligence, an outstanding reputation in the
conservation, academic and/or business sectors, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a
track record of getting things done.
By filling this role, TNC seeks a passionate and strategic leader who will play a
pivotal role in shaping the organization in Brazil.
Responsibilities & Scope:
More specifically, TNC seeks a candidate who will:
Continue to position the Conservancy as a major partner to advance a sustainable
development agenda that includes work with the conservation, agriculture, and
financial sectors, and with key stakeholders including government, private sector,
foundations, indigenous organizations, and academic sector.
Advance work at systems level across prioritized geographies with a compelling
vision, strong research foundation, resolution of technical issues, advancement of
key policies, and mobilization of resources at scale.
As a participant in the LAR Leadership Team, contribute to defining strategic
approaches and aligning work in the region with the organizations global
priorities.
Manage multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff with
responsibility for performance management, training, and career development,
delegating authority, ensuring they are effective and supported, and ensuring
planned deliverables and results are achieved.
Attract, develop, and retain diverse staff talent to successfully build a
workplace culture that is collaborative in nature, fair, inclusive, and equitable,
including through the Gender, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (GDEI) program while
maintaining strict adherence to organizational values.
Work with teams across The Nature Conservancy, collaborating to access and
leverage the human and financial resources to deliver durable, impactful results,
aiming to maximize synergies and opportunities for collaboration.
Manage the business units budget proactively to ensure effective and efficient
operations including long-term financial sustainability in alignment with finance
procedures and regulations.
Leverage proven experience in fundraising from public and private sources to
identify, cultivate and steward donors and build out new relations to support the
program.
Represent TNC in public forums, at the CEO and Minister level, positioning the
organization as a go-to leader in conservation and sustainable development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
" Relevant industry/ sector experience- 10+ years of related experience in similar
position, including 7 successful years in a leadership role either in the private
sector as the ESG/Sustainability Leader or in the conservation arena, non-profit
sector, advocacy, or related for-profit area.
" Multilingual Communication:
Fluency in written and verbal Portuguese and English; proficiency in Spanish is
welcome.
" Stakeholder Engagement:
Proven ability to connect and deliver messages to diverse audiences, including
donors, board members, employees, external partners, and others.
" Resource Management:
Experience in securing funding through fundraising and effectively managing
budgets.
" Industry Expertise:
Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and practices within relevant fields and
geographic regions.
" Partnership Building:
Proven ability to cultivate and manage partnerships with private groups and
non-profit organizations, community groups, and government agencies.
" Program Leadership:
A successful track record in directing major programs of strategic importance,
including managing, and supervising multi-disciplinary teams to achieve impactful
results.
" Managerial Expertise:
Demonstrated managerial excellence through adept budgeting, strategic staffing,
and comprehensive performance management initiatives. This has led to optimized
operational efficiency and a high-performing team.
" Build talents and teams:
Attracts and develops talented, diverse teams and leaders:
Coaches and develops others, understands team dynamics, and strengthens
organizational capability.

" Successful experience in marketing or fund raising.
" Compelling Presence:
Demonstrated expertise in communication and presentation skills.
" Strategic Negotiation:
Expertise in crafting and negotiating complex agreements with various
stakeholders.
" Technical Skills:
Possess a robust skillset encompassing proven technical expertise, strong
analytical abilities, sound judgment, and a laser focus on operational excellence.
This translates into a data-driven, results-oriented approach with a keen eye for
detail during both planning and implementation phases.
" Fundraising Experience - Demonstrated track record generating and managing
resources from individuals, corporations, foundations, or governments.
